HACC – a little bit of help at homecircle-cleaning

Home and Community Care services, or HACC for short, is a good place to start if you are looking at just a little assistance to keep living at home.

HACC in WA is a joint state and Federal Government program that provides support in the home for older Australians, younger Australians with an ongoing functional disability, or their carers.

St Ives Home Care delivers HACC services in line with the ‘wellness’ approach. The aim is to support older Australians to improve independence, social participation and overall quality of life by giving assistance in those areas of home life that the consumer and their loved ones feel they most need it.

If you feel like you might need a bit more help in the future or you might benefit from a case manager overseeing your changing needs, then you might like to consider home care packages.

Types of services

St Ives Home Care offers HACC services in most suburbs across Metropolitan Perth. Services may include:

  • domestic assistance such as help with household tasks and light housework
  • personal care such as assistance with dressing and getting ready to go out
  • social support and companionship
  • banking, shopping and occasional transport to appointments, and
  • respite care.

You or your carer might also be eligible for a break from caring duties through HACC respite.

Importantly, HACC home support services are limited in terms of the services that can be provided and are not supported by a dedicated case manager to assist you. If your needs grow beyond what the HACC program offers, you can continue on to a government subsidised home care package, which will provide additional services and a dedicated case manager to coordinate your services. You might also consider topping up HACC services with Private Care.

You can order your HACC brochure or other resources using our brochure order form.
